Photography in NYC is not for the weak. You have to move fast and be confident in your settings. Because most likely, you are only going to get one shot (dun dun DUNNNN).
City Wedding 101
The thing about a city wedding is you just gotta roll with whatever happens. Especially if you want anything outside of your venue. Once you’re in the open city, it’s best to roll with the day and keep moving. Something we thought we were gonna use is suddenly closed? (Happens to me in Central Park all the time ugh) We keep going to the next spot and don’t stress. The beauty of NYC is you never run out of spots!
Timelines can be roughhh when it comes to the city. Especially moving from place to place. Whenever I shoot a wedding in the city, I keep my camera on and ready. I love a good farm wedding because I usually have a more lax timeline and we can walk around and preplan where I want to shoot. Most of the time in the city I’m seeing the location for the first time once it’s time to be there. Between traffic and just the general public slowing everything down, you plan for it, and you stay ready.
My biggest tip is pick someone who can move fast and is confident around the city. And bonus if they are chill and flexible (shameless plug for myself sorry).
