1) For the city aesthetic
When it comes to city engagement photos you have to decide what kind of city aesthetic are you going for. Cute Hallmark movie? Pick any small town in NC. Sleek modern city girl moment? Charlotte or parts of Raleigh are your BFF. Coastal? Downtown Wilmington of course!
Here’s a quick list of the cities I recommend the most to my clients and what aesthetic they might work best for!
Charlotte – sleek/slightly industrial.
Raleigh – classy pillars or more modern vibe
Greensboro – classic buildings and a slower artistic vibe.
Durham – Collums and pillars/ industrial
Wilmington – Coastal small town
Fayetteville – cute small town
And hint hint, if you like the sleek all-white tall pillars look all you need is a courthouse! Almost all on the list have at least one building with this look.
2) For the romantic garden vibes
The beautiful thing about NC is all the gardens! There’s no shortage of arboretums and botanical gardens around here. Not all are free though. Some have a fee (and will strictly enforce it) Here’s a list of some of my favorite gardens (and if you have to pay to get in).
Airlie Gardens WIlmgton – Paid
Raleigh Rose Garden – Free
Cape Fear Botanical Gardens Fayetteville – Paid
JC Rouselton Arboretum Raleigh – Free
Duke Gardens Durham – Paid
Pullen Park Raleigh – Free
3) Bella’s wedding (aka the woods)
Ahhh the woods. NC has many many many to choose from! Just look for a State Park and you are in luck! And most of the time it’s free to get in (or they don’t ask any questions)
Careers Creek State Park Fayetteville
Eno River State Park
Lake Wheeler Park
Raven Rock State Park
